Meet the team

Head Riding Instructor, Trainer, & Fitness Coach

Mira Bouch

Mira Bouch was born an equestrian. On horseback at just 18 months old, she repeated “I ride,” not wanting to get off! Her love and commitment to horsemanship has taken her across America and the Atlantic to train with former Olympians, Dressage Champions and World Class Dressage and Bullfighting Horsemanship masters. Mira is currently training under Master Lisa Voss and Master Jose Carlos Coutinho at the Coudelaria da Silva Coutinho in Portugal.

Passionate about American Mustangs, dressage, the therapeutic benefit of horses, and fighting from horseback, Mira’s accomplishments include gentling wild mustangs, training problem horses, starting horses under saddle, teaching riders and horses alike and managing a five horse barn. She spent the winter/spring of 2024 in an intensive four month internship with Marsha Hartford Sapp, mustang and dressage trainer based in Florida learning the ins and outs of running a training program and facility.

More of her horse related pursuits include farriering, trick riding, mounted archery, mounted combat, and problem horse behavioral modification.

Mira has extensive training in working with children and adults to support building fun, confidence and resilience. Mira is trained in Mindfulness Based Trauma Informed Therapeutic Rehabilitation, a form of therapeutic support for mental and emotional health that supports clients in building confidence, overcoming traumatic experiences and regulating their nervous systems. Combined with her team of trained therapy horses Mira provides therapeutic healing experiences for those seeking to overcome fears and deepen their personal growth through horsemanship.

In addition to her skills with horses, Mira is an accomplished martial artist, trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and holding a black belt in Japan’s oldest continuously trained martial art Katori Shinto Ryu. Mira is a fitness and nutrition enthusiast and is dedicated to helping clients improve their horsemanship and accomplish their personal fitness goals through tailored, equestrian specific personal training and nutritional guidance.

Owen Lawyer

Owen Lawyer discovered horsemanship through martial arts and therapy. Owen is also a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist with a deep passion for helping people to heal their traumatic experiences through equine assisted psychotherapy. The gentleness and sensitivity of the horse combined with their power and huge hearts allows people to move through traumatic experiences in ways beyond the reach of traditional talk therapy. Most people have traumatic experiences with humans and horses offer a path to bonding and healing that can repair even the deepest wounds.

Owen’s expertise in helping people to build confidence, overcome fears and learn to communicate within themselves in a powerful and loving manner prepares them to be incredible leaders for their horses. Owen dreamed of being a Samurai as a young boy and has dedicated his life to that pursuit. Owen is third degree black belt in Aikido, a Brazilian jiu jitsu competition champion and Moku Roku (blackbelt) in Japan’s oldest continuously trained swordsmanship school Katori Shinto Ryu.

In 2015 Owen began working with horses as a way to expand his martial arts training. Owen is currently training under Master Jose Carlos Coutinho and Lisa Voss at the Coudelaria da Silva Coutinho in Portugal where he and his stunning Lusitano Warhorse, Sultao, are learning the art of bullfighting.

Owen’s horsemanship passions include mounted combat, mounted archery, and classical dressage. For him, the marriage of dressage’s precision and artistry with the dynamic power of mounted combat represents one of the highest expressions of martial arts.
